The Million Dollar Secret of Successful MLM Prospecting

I’m constantly asked what makes the difference between modest part-time income earners on the one hand and 6-figure earners on the other with regard to mlm prospecting.

Is there any secret?

Well, actually there is (though it is not a secret at all).

There is one crucial mistake, that most network marketers make.

And I was guilty of it too.

Talking to my prospects I was talking exclusively about my company, its services, its future and its fabulous compensation plan.

And was surprised, that they didn’t get as excited as I did.

Have you experienced the same?

Let’s see what it looks like.

Say, you’re calling your friend Jim, who you don’t talk to on a regular basis, and saying what you think is natural to say to achieve your goal – to arouse his interest:

“Hey, Jim, this is <your name>.

I’ve just found something incredible and immediately thought about you because we’re gonna make a lot of money.

This is an amazing business with the company called <name of the company> that offers extraordinary products that sell themselves.

People working with them are making amazing money, and we will too.

Are you gonna join me?”

Silence…, then Jim says: “I’m afraid I’m not interested…”.

Shock…, it seemed to be so obvious that Jim would share your enthusiasm…

Then you repeat this process with a few other people, who all respond the same way, and you come to the conclusion, that this business is not for you or simply doesn’t work.

But let’s try to analyze this call.

First, Jim is your friend and you don’t typically call him with a sales pitch, so this is out of the ordinary and will trigger a defense barrier to rise up immediately.

Second, you didn’t provide him with enough details to make an informed decision.

Third, you don’t know if he is interested in running a business at all.

No wonder, you failed.

Now, it’s time to reveal the secret of MLM prospecting we recently talked about.

Let’s change the scenario of this conversation.

“Hey, Jim, this is <your name>.

How are you doing?

What’s up?”

Now, let him talk and listen carefully to what he says and ask clarifying questions about family, plans for the future and for the nearest vacations, his job or business things like that.

Questions allow you to not let the conversation get out of control and help you to uncover things that are going on in your friend’s life that you could help him with.

Show your genuine interest and try to find out what his major problem, major “pain” is.

Try to determine whether what you have to offer, products or services of your company or its business opportunity can be a remedy to this “pain”.

Perhaps he doesn’t have enough money for his kids’ education or doesn’t plan a summer vacation because he can’t afford it.

Your business opportunity offer could be a way for him to increase his income on a part-time basis.

Maybe he would like to have more free time to spend with the family, or is concerned about his retirement or just wants to buy a new car.

Again, you have a solution to all the money issues.

People become more open, when it comes to solutions to their problems, and start to listen more closely.

Show your friend that you care about him first, but not about your matter, and you’ll succeed and get what you want.

And your relationship won’t be damaged.

Once you have uncovered what your friend’s major “pain” is, say something like:

“Listen, Jim, I don’t know if it’s right for you, but maybe I have a solution to your problem.

I’ve recently was introduced to one part-time home business, that seems to be promising.

Wanna take a closer look?”

If you talked about what YOU want, the answer would likely be “no”, or in a better case “maybe”, that actually means the same “no”.

But when you’re talking about HIM and a solution to HIS problem, the answer will rather be “yes” than “no”.

And this is the million dollar secret of MLM prospecting all the top producers know and implement and so can you.
